“Best AI chatbot for Magento 2” is a search query, not a trophy. The right product depends on the job: pre-purchase catalog discovery, post-purchase order tracking, Magento-admin support tickets, or on-site search. This roundup is dated 1 September 2026. It compares Claspwell with Alhena, Mirasvit eChat, Clerk.io, and Luigi’s Box using public product pages and Magento Marketplace-style listings. We sell Claspwell, so this is not a neutral magazine. We also will not write “Claspwell is #1 everywhere.”
Claspwell is built to be the catalog-aware Magento 2 / Hyvä sales assistant: category-first discovery, configurable parents, plan-based catalog sync, a deferred Hyvä widget, store_id isolation, and EU-hosted backend. It is not the best Magento helpdesk, WhatsApp agent, or search-merchandising suite. Product page: /magento-2-ai-chatbot. Buying checklist: /blog/how-to-choose-magento-ai-chatbot.
Methodology (1 September 2026)
We reviewed public documentation and marketing as of 1 September 2026. Scoring questions: Does the product speak Magento catalog structure (categories, attributes, configurables, store views), or HTML and feeds? How does the storefront load (especially Hyvä)? Is Magento install a module you operate, a self-serve OAuth form, or a guided SaaS install? Where does data live, and what is claimed about GDPR? How are conversations billed? What is explicitly a different job (orders, search, tickets)?
We did not run a paid bake-off on every catalog. Competitor prices change; we do not invent SKUs we cannot see. Conversation “unlimited” claims are treated as a risk until the meter is documented. Claspwell figures come from /pricing: Essential €99 / 750 conversations / daily sync; Growth €249 / 3,000 / hourly; Scale €499 / 10,000 / 15-minute / up to three stores; Agency from €990. Magento install included. No Stripe in v1.
Claspwell — Magento 2 / Hyvä catalog discovery
Best fit when the job is pre-purchase product discovery on Magento 2 and Hyvä: shoppers describe a need, we resolve category and attributes, and we return real SKUs from a synced catalog. Configurable children stay internal. Sync cadence is a plan feature, not a live stock API on every turn. The widget is a deferred script with a public store key; Magento OAuth and model keys stay on the EU-hosted Node backend (Hetzner Frankfurt target).
Limits we publish on purpose: no Magento auto-install, no self-serve checkout, no WhatsApp / Instagram omnichannel agents, no full Magento-admin order agent as the core product, no customer-group / Shared Catalog prices as a v1 claim, no SOC 2 badge. Guided install is typically 1–2 weeks after access is ready. If that job matches, request integration. If it does not, keep reading.
Alhena — Magento plus a broader ecommerce agent
Alhena’s public Magento path is a REST OAuth integration: you create a Magento integration, paste credentials, and they enable a Product Expert agent plus an Order Management agent. Their docs also describe helpdesk connectors (for example Freshdesk / Zendesk) and other commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce). They market live Magento API access for catalog and order questions, including WISMO-style tracking, and they emphasise self-serve connection rather than a Composer module sprint.
That is a different centre of gravity than Claspwell. If you need one vendor for catalog Q&A and live order tracking across Magento and a helpdesk, Alhena is in that set. If you need Magento 2 / Hyvä category-first discovery with a deferred storefront widget, named EU residency, and conversation caps you can show finance, Claspwell is built for that narrower job. We do not claim to beat Alhena at omnichannel support or order agents. We also will not invent their 2026 list prices here — ask them, then compare meters to /pricing.
Mirasvit eChat — Magento extension, support-heavy
Mirasvit’s Magento 2 AI Chatbot (eChat) is sold as a Magento extension: trained on catalog, categories, and CMS, with product Q&A plus support self-service (order status, invoices, tickets) in Magento’s world. Public roundups in 2026 still list it in Magento-extension pricing territory (first year plus renewal), not as a per-store SaaS ladder. That commercial model is the point: you install a module, often bring model access, and operate more of the stack yourself.
Choose eChat when Magento-admin support deflection and a marketplace licence matter more than a managed EU SaaS backend. Choose Claspwell when you want catalog-aware sales chat with tenant isolation, Hyvä-conscious loading, and install included as SaaS. We do not claim to replace Mirasvit’s ticket and invoice flows in v1.
Clerk.io — search, recommendations, then chat
Clerk.io is a merchandising platform: search, recommendations, email, and a Chat product that sits on their catalog feed. Public Magento comparison pages emphasise product-aware chat, multi-store, and custom pricing, with a feed sync plus script. That is a strong fit if you already run Clerk for search and recs and want chat as another surface on the same index.
It is not the same product as a Magento-native category-first assistant with a thin Hyvä module and store_id JWTs. If on-site search quality is the primary KPI, Clerk.io is in the search-and-merchandising set. If storefront sales chat on Magento catalog structure is the KPI, compare Claspwell on /product rather than treating Chat as a search plugin with a speech bubble.
Luigi’s Box — conversational search, not a helpdesk
Luigi’s Box Conversational Agent is explicit in public docs: it is a product-discovery layer on search. Shoppers describe a need in natural language; the agent guides them to products. It does not position itself as the system for orders, returns, or customer support. Autocomplete, search, and recommendations remain the company’s centre.
That honesty is useful. A Magento merchant who actually needs better search should evaluate Luigi’s Box as search. A merchant who needs a Magento 2 sales chatbot with configurable parent collapse, plan-based Magento sync, and EU-hosted isolation should not pretend a search agent is that chatbot. Claspwell and Luigi’s Box can both be “AI that helps find products” in a keyword sense and still be different implementations.
Who should shortlist whom
Shortlist Claspwell for Magento 2 / Hyvä pre-purchase catalog chat, EU hosting, and guided install with published conversation caps. Shortlist Alhena when Magento catalog plus live orders and helpdesk agents are the brief. Shortlist Mirasvit eChat when a Magento extension and support self-service in admin matter most. Shortlist Clerk.io when search/recs are already the merchandising system of record. Shortlist Luigi’s Box when conversational search is the gap.
Nobody on this list is #1 at every Magento job. For Claspwell pricing and cadence see /pricing. For GDPR residency see /blog/magento-ai-chatbot-gdpr-eu-hosting. For crawler-versus-catalog see /blog/magento-2-product-discovery-chatbot. Request a guided Magento install at /request-integration when the catalog-discovery job is the one you actually have.
