Choosing an AI chatbot for Magento 2 is not the same job as pasting a generic website widget under your logo. Magento catalogs are categories, filterable attributes, configurable parents, store views, and stock. A crawler never sees that graph cleanly. Claspwell is built as a catalog-aware Magento 2 / Hyvä sales assistant. This guide is the checklist we wish merchants used on every vendor call — including ours.
Use it with /magento-2-ai-chatbot and /pricing. If a demo cannot answer these questions in writing, you are buying a transcript, not a Magento product. For a dated vendor-by-vendor read, see /blog/best-ai-chatbots-magento-2.
Start with the catalog model, not the chat bubble
Ask how products enter the assistant. Claspwell syncs Magento categories, products, and shopper-facing attributes into a tenant-scoped catalog. Discovery resolves the category first, then refines with attributes, typically without dumping the whole catalog into a prompt. That is different from indexing HTML and hoping the model remembers your layered navigation.
Demand an answer on configurable products. Magento stores a parent SKU and simple children. Chat that lists every child trains shoppers to bounce. Claspwell surfaces the configurable parent; child SKU lookup resolves to that parent; cards can show a From price when variants differ. Details: /blog/magento-ai-chatbot-configurable-products.
Price, stock, and honesty about freshness
“Live catalog” should mean a named sync cadence, not a hidden GraphQL call on every turn. Claspwell v1 syncs special prices and stock signals with the catalog job: daily on Essential, hourly on Growth, every 15 minutes on Scale. We do not claim a Magento inventory API round-trip on every chat turn. If you run twenty-minute flash sales, say so — Scale is the published ceiling, not a secret faster queue unless Agency quotes one.
Guest specials sync. Magento Shared Catalog and customer-group prices are not a published v1 capability. If your B2B net prices depend on logged-in group identity, that is an entitlement problem. A vendor who implies guest catalog prices are entitlements is selling you a dispute with finance. Read /blog/magento-chatbot-price-stock-validation.
Hyvä, Luma, and what the storefront actually loads
Hyvä merchants bought performance. A React chat island on every page fights that investment. Ask whether the widget is a deferred script, whether it registers RequireJS, and whether API secrets ever reach the browser. Claspwell injects a deferred Alpine-friendly launcher; the panel opens on demand; the storefront holds a public store key only. Luma-compatible installs are in scope for the same guided onboarding. We do not publish a vanity kilobyte number that would rot next week.
Session start should validate origin against an allow-list, run captcha, and issue a server-side session JWT. If the widget can pick a store code from the page URL, tenant isolation is theatre. Widget notes: /blog/hyva-alpine-storefront-chat-widget.
Multi-store is a tenancy question
Magento multi-store is where generic chatbots leak data. Two store views, one knowledge blob, and a browser-supplied store code is how Product A on Store B appears in the wrong language. Claspwell isolates catalog, knowledge, conversations, and encrypted Magento credentials per verified store_id. German, Swedish, and Slovak storefronts are separate subscriptions for that reason. Scale includes up to three store tenants; Agency is quoted. See /blog/magento-ai-chatbot-multi-store.
Conversation economics you can explain to finance
Generic “unlimited” chat usually means unlimited tokens on your card. Claspwell prices per store, net of VAT. Essential is €99 with 750 AI-path conversations and daily sync. Growth is €249 with 3,000 conversations, hourly sync, answer analytics, and capped frontier-model escalation — the default we recommend. Scale is €499 with 10,000 conversations, 15-minute sync, and up to three stores. Agency is from €990, quoted.
Only sessions that reach the AI path count. Overage is €0.10 / €0.06 / €0.05 by tier. You are notified at 100% of the allowance, with one grace month per quarter up to 120%. At 200% the AI path throttles to deterministic catalog and knowledge answers until you upgrade. Magento install is included; there is no Stripe meter in v1. Annual billing is −15% on the monthly fee, invoiced 12 months upfront. Full ladder: /pricing and /blog/magento-ai-chatbot-pricing-tiers.
Install model: marketplace licence vs guided SaaS
A Magento Marketplace module is yours to keep, patch, and host. You typically bring model keys and operate isolation yourself. Managed SaaS (Claspwell) means an EU-hosted backend, catalog workers, routing, and a guided Magento install: module, store key and origin, attribute mapping, first catalog sync, knowledge seed. Typical calendar time is 1–2 weeks after access is ready; staging first when possible. There is no Magento auto-install and no self-serve checkout in v1.
Agencies can own deploys; we still run the isolation checklist. Request that path at /request-integration. If you want a one-time SKU and no vendor, we are the wrong product — that is an honest filter.
EU hosting without invented badges
Ask where chat logs, catalog rows, and Magento credentials live. Claspwell’s backend target is Hetzner in Frankfurt. IPs are hashed. Retention is a limited window. Question text may still go to an inference provider for Tier-3 answers. We do not claim SOC 2. GDPR notes: /blog/magento-ai-chatbot-gdpr-eu-hosting.
Questions to send before the demo
How do configurables render in chat? What is the sync cadence by plan? Can the browser pick the tenant? Are secrets in the widget? What counts as a billable conversation? Who installs Magento, and is that invoiced separately? Where is data hosted? What is explicitly out of scope (orders, WhatsApp, customer-group prices)?
If those answers match a Magento 2 / Hyvä catalog-discovery job, request integration. If you need a helpdesk, an order agent, or site-search merchandising as the core product, use the roundup at /blog/best-ai-chatbots-magento-2 and pick the vendor whose job actually matches.
